IT IS TIME TO CELEBRATE

We are delighted to confirm that no further appeal has been lodged against the Planning and Environment Court’s decision, bringing this long-running and inappropriate development proposal to a final close. This landmark outcome is a tribute to the determination of our community. Over the past three and a half years, Samford Progress, 94 local co-respondents, generous donors and countless residents united to send a clear message: Samford’s character is not for sale.

Co-respondents, donors and supporters gathered at the Samford Community Hub recently, to celebrate this victory that belongs to everyone who stood with us. More than anything, there was a genuine sense of relief. People from across the Valley – not just those living near the site – were pleased to know that the character of Samford Village has been protected and that the residential integrity of Junction Street has been preserved for future generations.

The conversation about planning in and around Samford is far from over. With the City of Moreton Bay Council currently reviewing its Planning Scheme for the region, we invite you to visit the Samford Progress stand at the Samford Show on 11 and 12 July. We’d love to hear your views on how our community should grow while preserving the qualities that make Samford such a special place. There will also be an opportunity for locals to attend a community workshop session being held by Samford Progress on Wednesday evening 29 July at the Samford Community Hub.

While this battle has ended, our work continues. Samford Progress will now seek a full explanation from the City of Moreton Bay Council regarding its handling of this development application since 2022. We believe it is important that the lessons from this process are acknowledged and that our community’s concerns are heard. We remain committed to advocating for good planning, defending the integrity of the Town Plan Planning Scheme, and ensuring inappropriate development proposals continue to be robustly challenged.
