About The Village Pump
Established in 1977, The Village Pump is a fortnightly newspaper, produced, printed and distributed locally. It is delivered to more than 4600 letterboxes in Samford and surrounding areas and an additional 500+ newspapers are hand delivered to more than 40 local businesses each fortnight. This distribution figure is steadily increasing month to month. Based on current industry standards, our estimated readership is 7500 per fortnight. The Village Pump is very well read by our local community and feedback from our local businesses tells us that people who visit each week and especially on weekends, are reading and taking the newspaper home with them.
The Village Pump is truly local – providing residents with stories, information and updates about the people, places, businesses and events which make up this great community.
Importantly, the newspaper is supported by close to 250 businesses who advertise their services regularly. The profits generated through advertising are distributed back to the community twice a year through the SDPPA Grants program. In the last 10 years alone, these businesses have contributed more than $190,000 to various projects run by dedicated, local, volunteer community groups. We thank them for their continued support.
The inaugural grant through this program established the Samford Museum, which officially opened in 1986. The SDPPA committee and its members are proud of the role they play in protecting the integrity of the community and supporting the progression of local groups, clubs and services.
The Village Pump welcomes local news and information as well as advertising enquiries. If you are interested in advertising, or you would like to tell us about something happening in your business, school, neighbourhood or street, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 0477 663 696.
